Tyke Darlington, Marketing Affiliate
Tyke began his medical sales career in 1993 with Stryker Instruments in Memphis, Tennessee. During his thirteen years at Stryker he sold capital, disposable and device into all areas of the hospital. He grew the least productive territory to top twenty while standardizing large hospital systems who had never before used Stryker products. He was a member of the President’s Advisory Council, a liaison between members of the sales force and the marketing/executive staff at Stryker who met as a group annually to discuss products, new ideas, market trends, contracts etc.
In 2005 Tyke joined Abiomed Inc. who was developing a new minimally invasive ventricular assist device. Tyke was responsible for sales of the legacy products as well as organizing trials for the new technology. He then helped managed the release into the market once the technology received FDA approval. He worked with doctors and hospital administration to develop an Abiomed Center of Excellence within his territory, one of only five in the US at the time.
From 2009 - 2010, Tyke worked to bring to market an orthopedic trauma system and then managed the market trial. The device was proven to be highly beneficial and was purchased by Zimmer. He then assumed responsibility for all Zimmer products in the Memphis area while also helping integrate the device Zimmer had purchased into its national portfolio of products. He successfully managed the Memphis territory during the merger of Zimmer and Biomet, two of the largest US orthopedic companies, while maintaining the number one position in the nation for the product he helped launch.
